Ranked 2nd of 13, this is an especially faithful and well-constructed interpretation of the prompt. Its main limitation is low shadow visibility rather than a significant structural or stylistic failure.
Ornate gray-and-gold and blue-and-red space battleships exchange multicolored lasers beneath a luminous spiral galaxy, surrounded by explosions and smaller vessels.
Ranks fourth of twelve, distinguished by exceptional visual richness and imaginative spacecraft design. Its more polished fantasy-illustration treatment and congested peripheral effects place it below the most faithful and spatially controlled anime scenes.
A heavily armed gray cruiser takes laser hits while a sleek black-and-red fighter passes nearby, against a ringed planet and radiating speed lines.
A strong, coherent action image that balances a capital ship with an expressive foreground fighter. Minor mechanical congestion and dark-value losses keep it below the most polished fleet scenes.
A heavily foreshortened gray-and-red flagship dominates a crowded battle filled with smaller spacecraft, red lasers, explosive impacts, debris, and a cratered planetary body.
Ranked 3rd of 13, this delivers the set's most energetic spectacle and some of its strongest foreshortening. Local congestion and slightly modern rendering keep it below the cleaner, more period-faithful leaders.
A large gray battleship fires toward a fleet of purple ships amid pink and cyan beams, looping missile trails, a huge orange explosion, and a green targeting display.
Ranked 5th of 13, this is imaginative and richly executed, with particularly effective retro missile choreography. Uneven mechanical perspective and crowded effects prevent it from matching the clearer top-tier scenes.
A gray AEGIS-7 battleship and a spiky blue warship exchange concentrated volleys amid fighters, orange explosions, colorful energy effects, and multiple planets.
Ranked 7th of 13, this is technically polished and communicates combat effectively. Its more modern visual language and overloaded background limit its success against the specific retro-anime brief.
Two immense angular warships exchange red and green lasers while smaller fighters weave through explosions above an asteroid field and a bright starry backdrop.
Ranked 6th of 13, this combines strong prompt fidelity with convincing battle density. Its main weakness is mechanical construction clarity, particularly within the heavily segmented foreground hull.
A blocky military battleship confronts an iridescent tentacled alien vessel amid pink and blue beams, explosive flashes, fighters, and Japanese sound-effect lettering.
An inventive and engaging battle scene with stronger subject fidelity than the fighter-focused entries. Its crowded effects, repeated blast shapes, and comic-oriented presentation keep it below the more polished anime interpretations.
A large gray-and-red warship fires a brilliant red beam through a crowded fleet battle filled with colored lasers, smoke trails, and explosions.
Ranks sixth of twelve because it combines excellent subject coverage with substantial mechanical detail. Crowded depth staging and uneven coherence among the smaller ships keep it below the more convincingly organized battles.
Two enormous pale-blue angular warships overlap above a planetary horizon, surrounded by smaller craft, dense laser streaks, and bright impact sparks.
A highly ambitious and strongly prompt-aligned image with impressive mechanical complexity. Its weaker spatial clarity and crowded pale-on-pale rendering prevent that detail from translating into top-tier execution.

A good and imaginative retro battle scene with strong prompt coverage. Noticeable structural ambiguity and less disciplined surface drawing separate it from the excellent entries.
Angular gray spacecraft sweep diagonally through deep-blue space while huge red-white beams, orange explosions, and drifting debris fill the scene.
An artistically excellent anime dogfight, but a less complete interpretation of a giant-starship battle. Its scale ambiguity and occasional structural looseness keep it below the leading capital-ship scenes.
A poster-like fleet battle shows dark gray capital ships, blue engine glow, multicolored laser exchanges, Earth at left, and Japanese captions.
Ranks seventh of twelve, with stronger atmosphere and fleet scale than the lower-ranked scenes. Reduced mechanical clarity and a softer poster-like treatment hold it below the sharper, more explicitly cel-styled battles.
A retro anime poster shows large red-and-gray starships, fighters, a humanoid mecha, crossing beams, and multiple cartoon explosions above a large bilingual title.
A competent retro poster interpretation with substantial action and recognizable giant ships. Flattened construction, repetitive effects, and ambiguous weapon relationships limit its execution.
Weathered gray industrial warships and a white twin-engine fighter participate in a laser battle near an Earth-like planet, with burning ships and a small moon in the background.
Ranked 11th of 13 for this specific prompt, despite excellent rendering craftsmanship. The substantial failure to reproduce the requested anime era outweighs its otherwise high technical scores.
A crowded battle features a massive brown warship, purple opponents, numerous fighters, explosions, red and orange beams, and comic-style sound-effect lettering.
Ranks tenth of twelve because abundant action and detailing are undermined by congested staging and a less faithful stylistic interpretation. It is lively and readable at a broad level, but less controlled than the higher-ranked scenes.
A white-and-red capital ship confronts a purple warship with glowing green circuit-patterned wings, surrounded by fighters, colorful lasers, and a magenta nebula.
Ranked 8th of 13, this is vivid and competent but noticeably less faithful to the requested era. Its modern neon aesthetic and ambiguous alien-ship construction are more consequential than its high surface polish.
Several gray naval-style starships exchange red, green, and blue beams around a central explosion, with planets, a painted galaxy, and subtitle-like text below.
A recognizable and reasonably complete retro-anime fleet battle, but noticeably less refined than the strongest entries. Flat mechanical rendering, loose battle staging, and minor presentation artifacts limit its effectiveness.
White and violet spacecraft with glowing pink engines fly through a black starfield crossed by vivid cyan and magenta streaks.
A clean and attractive neon spacecraft illustration with only partial fidelity to the requested battle. Ambiguous scale, modernized styling, and unclear combat outweigh its strong graphic finish.
A large twin-cockpit combat craft with blazing engines dominates a close-up battle filled with red and green lasers, escorts, and luminous shield effects.
Visually, this is one of the stronger action illustrations, but the missing giant-starship emphasis is a major prompt mismatch. It succeeds as a dramatic fighter battle rather than fully delivering the requested capital-ship scene.
Massive red-and-navy cylindrical warships fill the frame above a red spherical structure, with scattered lasers, small spacecraft, and asteroids against blue space.
Ranks eighth of twelve because it convincingly establishes retro styling and giant-ship scale. Its restricted battle narrative, ambiguous emission effects, and less varied mechanical detailing limit the overall result.
Two angular spacecraft exchange red and green laser fire in a dark asteroid field, with a bright explosion engulfing part of the lower-left ship.
A readable but relatively basic interpretation of the prompt. Limited surface detail, buried hull modeling, and a less developed composition keep it below the more accomplished entries.
A large red wedge-shaped flagship passes a pale triangular ship while pink, green, and blue lasers cross the star field and a fiery explosion expands behind it.
Ranked 9th of 13, this offers substantial mechanical detail and a recognizable retro illustration approach. Uneven perspective and weaker combat integration keep it below the more coherent fleet scenes.
Several dark spacecraft surround an enormous orange explosion above a blue planet, with colored streaks radiating across the starfield.
Ranks ninth of twelve, with strong explosive spectacle and a confident large-scale composition. Its less specific anime styling and comparatively obscure spacecraft construction prevent it from joining the stronger entries.
A tightly packed fleet of pale blue, pink, and orange spacecraft fills the frame while bright lasers converge near a planet undergoing a massive explosion.
The image is ambitious and substantially matches the requested complexity. Structural ambiguity and uncontrolled layering prevent that complexity from becoming a convincing, readable battle scene.
Three dark blue and red battleships float against a blue nebula while yellow, green, and orange beams cross their hulls.
Ranked 12th of 13, this captures the retro style better than several more polished images. Its underexposure, limited detail visibility, and static engagement nevertheless make it a comparatively weak result.
A gray angular spacecraft fires two red beams past a smaller fighter and scattered rocks against a mostly black starfield.
Ranks twelfth of twelve because its basic prompt compliance is not matched by compelling battle staging or environmental complexity. It remains readable and stylistically relevant, but is the least substantial scene in the set.
Blue and orange wedge-shaped spacecraft cross broad green beams amid purple-and-orange nebula clouds, with a ringed planet in the upper right.
Ranks eleventh of twelve, slightly ahead of the sparsest image because of its richer setting and fleet arrangement. Limited mechanical development and weak battle interaction are substantial shortcomings for this particular complexity test.
Four weathered white spacecraft with orange trim and reflective single-seat canopies fly through blue-black space while firing orange-white beams.
Technically accomplished, but much closer to an airbrushed fighter illustration than the requested giant-starship anime battle. Missing the intended vessel scale and animation aesthetic outweighs its strong surface rendering.
A giant humanoid machine stands among numerous ornate spacecraft and floating weapon-like forms, surrounded by orange beams, a brilliant central blast, planets, and clouds.
The weakest interpretation of the requested scene, despite abundant visual detail and strong color spectacle. Its dominant robot, non-cel rendering, and unclear mechanical relationships are substantial shortcomings rather than minor polish issues.
Two partially cropped blue-gray starships flank a bright central burst where several white beams intersect against a simple blue star field.
Ranked 13th of 13, this has strong period-style recognition but the weakest execution of a detailed action scene. Blur, excessive central glare, and minimal scene development outweigh its otherwise direct prompt adherence.
Two blue angular capital ships and a smaller craft appear in a dark star field, illuminated by intense cyan light and a few greenish beams.
This is the weakest result in the set because recognizable ships and beams cannot offset the poorly resolved drawing. Diffuse rendering, unclear hull volume, and thin battle staging substantially limit its success.
